Abstract: This authoritative report tracks progress on SDG 7: universal access to modern energy. As of 2021, 675M people lack electricity and 2.3B lack clean cooking. Financing shortfalls, access disparities, and regional inequality are examined. The report presents a grim outlook?electrification targets may be missed, energy efficiency stagnates, and renewables remain underfunded. It recommends $30B/year in energy access financing and reform of inefficient public subsidies. Kenya is flagged for slow clean cooking progress despite solar grid ambitions.
