Description: Lake Victoria, the world's second-largest lake located in East Africa, boasts abundant water and natural resources. This transboundary lake holds significance for its basin countries—Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania—which also constitute the East African Community (EAC) partner states. The lake plays a crucial role in supporting ecosystem services, livelihoods, and economic activities. The basin's resources include ample water reserves, rivers, wetlands, fertile land, forests, minerals, and diverse wildlife, including a substantial annual fish yield worth over $550 million. Notably, Lake Victoria harbors the crested crane and the endangered sitatunga antelope. The report assesses the integration of inclusive green economy principles within selected Lake Victoria Basin projects, highlighting their contribution to sustainable water resource management. The inclusive green economy concept emphasizes ecologically sustainable growth that promotes social equity and poverty reduction, thereby aligning with the region's socio-environmental needs.
