Global Water Partnership (GWP)
Abstract: This report examines water's role in climate adaptation across 15 countries including Kenya, analyzing how nations integrate water resources management into their climate strategies and development goals. The study identifies gaps and opportunities across four dimensions: enabling environment, institutions and participation, management instruments, and financing. The report finds that while countries recognize water's importance in climate adaptation, they often lack adequate institutional frameworks, management tools, data infrastructure, and financing mechanisms to fully harness water's potential for building climate resilience and achieving sustainable development outcomes. The analysis provides recommendations for national policymakers, civil society, development partners, and transboundary organizations to strengthen coordination and integration of water resources management with climate change and sustainable development priorities.
