Abstract: This Project Information Document outlines the fourth phase of the West Africa Food System Resilience Program (FSRP), designed to increase food system resilience in Africa by scaling agriculture innovation. The project targets Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Senegal, and Zambia, with a total operation cost of $53.26 million financed through the International Development Association. It addresses the persistent challenge of low agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers who produce 70 percent of the continent's staple food, while facing mounting climate-related risks that now strike farmers every 2.5 years compared to every 12.5 years previously. The project aims to strengthen innovation systems, enhance smallholder productivity and climate resilience, improve market competitiveness, and create employment opportunities across the agrifood system, with particular attention to vulnerable groups including women and disadvantaged communities.
