Abstract: The Kilifi County Climate Change Action Plan (KCCCAP) 2023?2027 provides a strategic framework to address the increasing vulnerability of the county to climate-related hazards such as droughts, floods, sea-level rise, and disease outbreaks. Developed through a participatory Climate Risk Assessment process across all 35 wards, the plan identifies priority sectors including agriculture, water, health, education, trade, and urban development, highlighting differentiated exposure risks for women, youth, and other vulnerable groups. The plan presents a historical profile of climate trends and projections, noting a 1.59% decline in rainfall over the next decade and a rising incidence of extreme weather events. Agro-ecological zoning informs tailored adaptation strategies, while mitigation efforts prioritize renewable energy, reforestation, and waste management. Anchored in Kenya?s National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP) and aligned with the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), KCCCAP proposes robust institutional coordination structures, a climate finance roadmap, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure effective implementation. Through multi-stakeholder partnerships, the county seeks to build long-term resilience, enhance livelihoods, and contribute to national climate goals.
