Abstract: This factsheet outlines the sixth phase of the Global Carbon Market project in Eastern Africa, with Kenya and Uganda as focus countries. It details capacity-building efforts for governments, private sector readiness under Article 6, youth empowerment, and regional coordination via the Eastern Africa Alliance. The program aligns with Paris Agreement goals and seeks to build institutional competencies through registries, sectoral policy support, and MRV systems. GIZ engages with regional negotiators using handbooks, policy dialogues, and tools to ensure market integrity. The factsheet emphasizes Kenya?s role as a technical and policy leader in carbon credit development and auction hosting. It lays out implementation pillars: enabling environments, project design training, safeguards, youth networks, and carbon finance advocacy. This resource supports regional harmonization and guides countries toward full integration of mitigation markets into their NDCs.
