Abstract: This paper examines Africa?s energy transition potential and structural challenges. It evaluates fossil dependence, grid reliability, and the underperformance of utilities, while mapping the opportunities across solar, wind, and hydropower. It highlights electrification gaps, renewable readiness, and policy deficiencies, including the emergence of green hydrogen as a strategic frontier. Kenya is recognized for its geothermal leadership and policy innovation. The analysis supports tailored reforms across regulation, infrastructure, and finance.
