Abstract: This study protocol examines how extreme weather affects the health of people living with HIV (PLWH) in rural Kenya. Over six months, 200 participants wore devices tracking heart rate, sleep, and activity, alongside meteorological data from five weather stations. The study includes HIV-positive and negative individuals, enabling comparative analysis. A mixed-methods approach complements biometric data with participant-reported perceptions. The research fills a gap in empirical knowledge on climate-health syndemics in Sub-Saharan Africa and pioneers wearable tech in longitudinal studies linking HIV health outcomes to weather stressors.
