Eastern Africa Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance
Abstract: This research maps carbon market opportunities in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda, analyzing 37 mitigation technologies aligned with NDCs. It ranks technologies using multi-criteria assessments covering feasibility, co-benefits, cost, and scalability. Kenya's priority technologies include biogas, wind energy, afforestation, and solar dryers. The report emphasizes regional cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, developing ?positive lists? for carbon projects. Country-specific insights, investment potential, and enabling policies are offered. Sectoral emissions, data gaps, and technology comparisons support policy design. The study provides roadmaps to integrate carbon financing into national development strategies.
