Abstract: This regional protocol articulates cooperative environmental management principles across East African Community member states. It covers transboundary ecosystems, forest and wildlife conservation, wetlands governance, and coordinated pollution control. Core provisions include harmonized legal frameworks, compliance enforcement, data sharing, and community engagement. It institutionalizes principles like intergenerational equity, ecosystem integrity, and subsidiarity. The protocol provides a foundation for joint monitoring, biodiversity protection, and treaty-aligned climate action. It also includes mechanisms for dispute resolution and implementation review among Partner States.
