Abstract: This report evaluates Kenya?s banking sector performance since the adoption of Sustainable Finance Initiative (SFI) principles. It documents ESG alignment, SDG-linked risk monitoring, and NCCAP budget crosswalks. Over 93% of banks monitor SDG goals, though ESG data gaps persist. Financial flows are analyzed by sector and climate relevance, revealing product diversification hurdles. Recommendations include standardizing sustainability reporting, issuing green bonds, and incentivizing climate-lending. MSME climate finance emerges as a growth driver. The report critiques fragmentation in ESG policy and stresses the need for resilient banking frameworks to accelerate low-carbon financing, climate adaptation, and inclusive development.
