Abstract: This factsheet aggregates key data on flood vulnerability, water governance, and disaster management across Africa. With 1.47 billion people at flood risk globally, Africa faces 65% of its disasters from floods. Economic losses could reach $266B annually by 2050. It discusses IWRM, nature-based solutions, and transboundary cooperation. Kenya features through youth-led adaptation efforts and lessons on flood resilience, financing barriers, and early warning data deficits. The brief supports capacity building and data-driven planning.
