Abstract: This thematic report examines the humanitarian effects of prolonged drought in Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia, focusing on children. The analysis highlights child-focused risks such as malnutrition, disease, displacement, child labor, forced marriage, and gender-based violence. Kenya?s ASAL counties are featured with IPC drought phase mapping and protection data. The report identifies systemic resilience erosion, compounded by inflation and conflict, and calls for increased humanitarian response tailored to child protection. Findings are based on data review and key informant interviews.
