Gaps In Integration Of Sexual And Reproductive Health And Rights Into Climate Change Research In Sub-Saharan Africa: A Scoping Review

Abstract: This scoping review analyzes 37 studies on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) within climate change contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa. It uncovers gaps in evidence concerning menstrual health, contraceptive access, abortion care, and practices like child marriage. Climate hazards like heat, floods, and drought heighten SRHR vulnerabilities, especially among women, girls, and PLWH. The review links climate-induced food insecurity, displacement, and economic shocks to poor maternal outcomes and disrupted HIV care. It calls for investment in inclusive SRHR policies, data systems, and resilient health programming.
