Abstract: This compendium provides a structured resource for forestry professionals across Africa focused on climate change mitigation strategies using forest and tree-based systems. Topics include afforestation, agroforestry, REDD+, urban forestry, sustainable forest management, and bioenergy valorization. It contextualizes mitigation approaches within Africa?s socio-economic and environmental realities, integrating global protocols like the Paris Agreement and Kyoto Protocol. It also covers MRV systems, financing mechanisms, and co-benefits such as biodiversity preservation, poverty alleviation, and ecosystem resilience. Non-forest mitigation approaches in agriculture and energy sectors are discussed alongside bioeconomy-linked consumption patterns. The compendium was supported by SDC and Sida as part of a pan-African capacity-building initiative.
