Abstract: This national report contributes to FAO?s Global Forest Resources Assessment 2005 using restructured local forest classifications. Kenya?s forest and wooded land area totals 3.5M and 35M hectares respectively, mostly under public ownership. Functional designations include water protection, biodiversity, and production zones. Differences in FRA2000 and FRA2005 definitions led to reclassification of woodland and bushland. The document includes growing stock data, forest economics, and employment metrics. Data sources include remote sensing and national surveys.
