Abstract: This report examines financing gaps and models for scaling productive use of energy (PUE) across Sub-Saharan Africa. It defines two segments?project-level (irrigation, milling) and product-level (mobile tools)?with distinct financing needs. It identifies challenges like currency risk, limited local equity, and data opacity, and proposes tools like concessional debt, receivables finance, and credit visibility platforms. It profiles Kenya-based pilots including SunCulture and cold chain use. The report advocates donor coordination, ecosystem alignment, and structured instruments for rural energy transitions.
