Abstract: This collection of SDG7 policy briefs, presented at the High-Level Political Forum 2023, urges urgent action to meet energy access and transition goals. With 675M people without electricity and 2.3B without clean cooking, it outlines institutional reforms, regional gaps, and SDG linkages. The paper proposes global compacts, cross-SDG alignment, and technical assistance. Kenya is featured via contributions from the Ministry of Energy. Recommendations cover gender inclusivity, finance mobilization, metrics tracking, and technology transfer. A dashboard of performance indicators and SDG7 bottlenecks highlights sub-Saharan vulnerabilities. The report emphasizes embedding just transition into national energy frameworks and ensuring youth and marginalized communities benefit from decarbonization. It also encourages aligning NDCs with SDG7 benchmarks and catalyzing localized infrastructure investments.
