Abstract: This study presents a hybrid biogas purification system using coconut shell-derived activated carbon and iron oxide from scrap metal for H?S and CO? removal. It combines absorption (NaOH, CaOH?) with adsorption to achieve methane concentrations above 30%, and up to 99% CO? and 100% H?S removal. Regeneration tests show consistent performance over multiple cycles. Experimental data validated via fixed-bed modeling offers real-world feasibility. System design is low-cost, ambient-temperature, and applicable to rural Kenyan digesters. The setup supports climate-smart clean cooking, energy access, and circular use of agro-waste.
