Abstract: This study examines the vulnerability of hydropower systems in Sub-Saharan Africa due to climate change, highlighting disruptions to energy infrastructure caused by altered precipitation and extreme weather. It explores adaptation strategies such as improved water management, energy cooperation, and diversification through renewables like solar and geothermal. Case studies from Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania illustrate effective approaches. The authors advocate for climate-resilient infrastructure, policy reforms, and investment in decentralized energy systems to mitigate risks and ensure energy security.
