Kenya Power, Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS), Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transition (UK PACT)
Abstract: This report presents the outcomes of the eCAP Consumer Financing pilot project, aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric cooking and mobility in Kenya through innovative credit mechanisms. Implemented by Kenya Power, MECS, and PowerPay, the project tested the viability of extending StimaLoan financing to electric pressure cookers and e-bikes. Results included high uptake and repayment rates, significant carbon reductions, and operational success using IoT-enabled PAYGo tools. The findings highlight the role of clean cooking finance and digital infrastructure in expanding household access to sustainable appliances.
