This study details a solar-powered hydroponic system using the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) to cultivate collard greens in Kenya. Integrating float switches, automated refilling, and microcontroller sensors, the system achieved a 66% energy reduction over traditional setups. Located at JKUAT, the system?s solar configuration?125W panel and 150AH battery?meets daily energy needs. Performance metrics include nutrient efficiency and healthy crop growth year-round. It demonstrates how renewable energy and resource-efficient design can support food security in off-grid farming communities.
