Abstract: This guide helps smallholder farmers make climate-smart enterprise decisions suited to their agroecological zones, household needs, and market conditions. It presents entrepreneurial farming traits such as reinvestment, specialization, and technology uptake. Farmers are coached on risk analysis, strategic budgeting, and selecting enterprises based on nutrition and profitability. Production pillars?weather-smart, water-smart, seed/breed-smart, carbon/nutrient-smart, and institutional/market-smart?are explained in practical terms. The handbook explores risk types (yield, price, financial, political) and mitigation strategies like insurance, contract farming, and diversification. It emphasizes sustainable grazing, afforestation, soil management, and financial literacy. The final section includes a business planning template and budget workbook to support resilient farm planning. The document serves as both an education tool and a field guide for integrated climate-smart agriculture, supporting food security, climate adaptation, and environmental conservation.
