Abstract: This study investigates the linkage between flooding and outbreaks of infectious diseases in Kenya. It explores how climate-related events exacerbate the spread of waterborne and vector-borne diseases such as cholera, malaria, and typhoid. The paper analyzes historical data and identifies contributing factors including poor sanitation, overcrowding, and lack of drainage systems. It highlights the vulnerability of informal settlements and rural communities with limited healthcare access. Flooding creates optimal conditions for pathogen transmission and vector proliferation. The study emphasizes the need for integrated public health responses, early warning systems, urban planning reforms, and climate resilience strategies to mitigate future disease outbreaks tied to flooding.
