Abstract: This study surveys polythene waste effects across Bungoma Town, Kenya, using 375 stakeholder responses. Findings cite blocked drainage, vector proliferation, soil degradation, air pollution from burning plastics, and child health risks. It evaluates public knowledge, waste sources (schools, homes, markets), and disposal patterns. Quantitative analysis via SPSS reveals high community concern and policy recommendations?emphasizing producer responsibility, law enforcement, and awareness campaigns. The authors advocate integrating polythene governance into municipal systems, creating recycling value chains, and community-led sensitization programs. The study offers evidence for localized planning and supports both infrastructure and regulatory intervention at the county level.
