United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
Abstract: This report compiles 35 women-led initiatives from Africa, Asia, and Latin America that address drought resilience through innovative practices, community engagement, and systemic gender transformation. Structured around five drivers of gender inequality?access to resources, finance and knowledge, norms, care work, and decision-making power?the document highlights women as active agents in combating land degradation and drought. It draws on diverse examples such as land rights advocacy in Bangladesh, climate information dissemination via community radio in Nigeria, ecohydrological monitoring in Peru, and resilience hubs in Kenya's ASAL regions. The report distills lessons for scaling inclusive, drought-resilient solutions and implementing gender-responsive policies under the UNCCD Gender Action Plan.
