Abstract: This county policy sets the strategic direction for agroecological transformation in Vihiga County. It responds to challenges in food insecurity, declining soil health, biodiversity loss, and agricultural productivity. Through an inclusive and participatory process, the policy outlines thematic areas such as soil health, safe food and nutrition, agroecological market development, and research linkages. It emphasizes conservation of indigenous agricultural knowledge, involvement of youth and marginalized groups, and scaling of community-level innovations. The document also aligns with key national and international frameworks such as Kenya?s Climate Change Act and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It provides a comprehensive roadmap to restructure the county's agri-food system through localized, sustainable practices and resilient governance mechanisms.
