Abstract: This report synthesizes evidence from a Columbia-CERFAM partnership studying climate-smart agriculture (CSA) practices across Sub-Saharan Africa. It identifies replicable innovations: commercial crops for smallholders, permaculture food circles, and land restoration models, with Kenya, Madagascar, and Namibia as focal countries. Data was collected through interviews, stakeholder workshops, and thematic evaluations. The authors map CSA effectiveness across four domains?soil recovery, water management, livestock health, and institutional support. Barriers noted include low farmer awareness, financing gaps, infrastructure deficits, and gender-based exclusion. Recommendations include scaling of proven CSA models, better farmer outreach tools, and government-backed incentives. Kenya?s case highlights uptake of rainwater harvesting and agroecological zoning in ASAL counties. This publication supports investment strategies and policy alignment with national adaptation frameworks.
