Abstract: Mt Elgon Mag III is a special issue published by the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) under its groundwater-surface water conjunctive management project. The magazine centers on the Mt. Elgon transboundary aquifer shared by Kenya and Uganda, highlighting groundwater's vital role in climate resilience, livelihoods, disaster recovery, and food security. Through powerful narratives, it documents success stories of women farmers in Kapchorwa, solar borehole installations in Bungoma, and community rehabilitation in landslide-prone areas like Bududa and Kopsiro. The stories illuminate how groundwater-supported interventions, such as drip irrigation, solar pumping, and catchment protection, have mitigated impacts of deforestation, erratic rainfall, and groundwater depletion. The issue also showcases transboundary diagnostics, ecosystem threats, public health intersections, and policy innovations. It emphasizes participatory planning, indigenous knowledge, and regional governance in the sustainable management of Mt. Elgon?s aquifer.
