Living Goods
Abstract: This report outlines the growing threat of climate change on public health systems, particularly in vulnerable communities across Kenya, Uganda, and Burkina Faso. It documents how Living Goods supports community health workers (CHWs) to build climate resilience by delivering essential healthcare, promoting nutrition and WASH, and responding to climate-linked health crises such as drought-induced malnutrition. The report highlights CHW interventions during severe droughts in Isiolo County, showcasing mass screenings and treatment referrals. It presents evidence from Uganda showing significant mortality reductions due to CHW engagement after rainfall deficits. The report underscores how strengthening CHW systems is a vital climate adaptation strategy and calls for policy action and investments to prepare health systems for escalating climate-related shocks.
