Abstract: The Isiolo County Water Strategy 2023?2035 is the county?s first long-term planning framework for sustainable water and sanitation management. Developed through extensive collaboration with national agencies, non-state actors, and local stakeholders, the strategy presents an integrated roadmap to address acute water scarcity, degraded infrastructure, salinity issues, and climate-induced stress in an ASAL context. With 73% of villages relying on unsafe water sources located over 5 km away, and 44% of the population practicing open defecation, the strategy proposes targeted investments in infrastructure, nature-based solutions, institutional strengthening, climate resilience, and water governance.
