Abstract: This study explores the relationship between rainfall magnitude and crop yield in Kisumu County?s Nyando Sub-County. It focuses on maize, beans, and African nightshade?crops vital for household nutrition and income. Using regression analysis of rainfall data alongside crop performance metrics, the research shows that rainfall explains 44% of maize yield variation, 38% for beans, and 34% for nightshade. While maize benefits from abundant rain during long seasons, beans and nightshade suffer from excess moisture. Farmers have experienced seasonal shocks including floods, dry spells, and inconsistent rainfall patterns, causing instability in food production. The study recommends climate-smart practices such as rainwater harvesting, early planting, hybrid seeds, and precision farming. It advocates for expanded extension services and tailored agro-advisories based on meteorological forecasts. The findings underscore the need for adaptive agricultural systems to manage increasing rainfall variability.
