Abstract: This report investigates the impacts of climate change and climatic disasters on blue economy-linked livelihoods in Tana River County, Kenya?one of the most vulnerable coastal regions. It identifies fishing, aquaculture, coastal tourism, crop farming, and pastoralism as primary livelihoods influenced by the Tana Delta?s aquatic systems. Using surveys, focus group discussions, and interviews, the study highlights how sea level rise, ocean warming, droughts, floods, and resource-based conflict are reshaping ecosystem dynamics, fish stocks, grazing patterns, and agricultural productivity. Adaptation strategies include livelihood diversification, drought-resistant crops, migration, and fodder purchases. However, financial barriers and shrinking natural resources constrain adaptation. The report concludes with recommendations for enhancing resilience through policy reform, investment in climate-smart infrastructure, public-private partnerships, and locally grounded climate risk reduction strategies.
