Abstract: This policy guidance document compiles examples of mangrove-positive NDC targets submitted by countries under the Paris Agreement. It outlines how mangroves can be incorporated into NDCs under both mitigation and adaptation categories, emphasizing their value for carbon sequestration, coastal resilience, biodiversity, and livelihoods. Target types include protection, restoration, halting loss, and blue carbon finance. Kenya is featured among the examples for its 2020 NDC commitments, which prioritize marine spatial planning, nature-based solutions, and the implementation of the National Mangrove Management Plan. The document supports countries in setting measurable, time-bound, and costed mangrove targets while aligning with national development priorities and global reporting protocols.
