Evaluation Report: Addressing Drivers And Facilitating Safe, Orderly And Regular Migration In The Contexts Of Disasters And Climate Change In The Igad Region

This evaluation reviews outcomes of a regional migration program implemented in Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia from 2021?2023. It aimed to reduce climate- and disaster-induced displacement risks, facilitate regular migration channels, and integrate human mobility into resilience frameworks. Four pillars?data generation, policy alignment, preparedness protocols, and livelihoods?guided project actions. Achievements include ICPAC?s risk modeling, Turkana?s green economy pilots, and the development of SOPs for displacement management. The report synthesizes feedback from implementers and stakeholders and recommends scaling efforts, refining cross-border coordination, and integrating lessons into the IGAD Policy Framework. The findings highlight synergies between climate, migration, and development.
