Abstract: This climate security study analyzes the risks and conflict dynamics emerging from climate change in Kenya, with a strong focus on Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs). Using the Weathering Risk analytical framework, the report identifies four interconnected pathways where climate impacts aggravate food insecurity, resource-based conflict, displacement, and social cohesion. Climate-induced pressures?including prolonged droughts, erratic rainfall, rising temperatures, and degraded ecosystems?have weakened livelihoods and disrupted agricultural systems, especially in already fragile regions. The study proposes entry points for building resilience across sectors like agriculture, mobility, governance, and peacebuilding. It also offers operational recommendations for the World Food Programme (WFP) to integrate climate security considerations into its Kenya programming.
