Abstract: This synthesis report provides an extensive assessment of Kenya?s marine and inland blue economy sectors, prepared jointly by the University of Nairobi Maritime Centre and the Nairobi Convention Secretariat. It evaluates contributions to GDP, sectoral values, and growth potential across fisheries, aquaculture, marine transport, coastal agriculture, forestry, tourism, and renewable energy. It identifies significant opportunities in cruise tourism, mariculture, and inland blue economy resources, while highlighting governance gaps in spatial planning, investment, and inter-agency coordination. Drawing on field visits and stakeholder interviews, the report emphasizes the need for integrated coastal zone management, marine spatial planning, institutional strengthening, and financing mechanisms for a sustainable blue economy.
