Advancing Climate And Health Policies In Kenya: Insights From National Policy Stakeholders

This study explores how climate change and health policy agendas intersect in Kenya through interviews with 21 stakeholders, including government officials, academics, and civil society. It reveals the need to strengthen institutional coordination, anchor climate-health actions in development frameworks like Vision 2030, and adopt financing mechanisms such as FLoCCA. Barriers include limited data systems, fragmented political buy-in, and siloed budgeting. The report suggests creating multi-stakeholder coalitions to mainstream health risks?vector-borne diseases, malnutrition, and mental stress?into climate planning. One Health and Planetary Health paradigms are promoted as integrative models. It calls for legislative innovation, cross-sectoral education, and capacity-building to bridge gaps between health and climate governance.
