Abstract:This empirical study examines a Kenyan dairy-sector carbon project, focusing on cooperatives? role. Using surveys and regression analysis, it finds that membership in dairy cooperatives promotes sustainable practices and improved carbon reporting. Specifically, ?dairy cooperatives promote the adoption of sustainable practices and support carbon monitoring and reporting?. While cooperatives enhance uptake of climate-friendly methods, the paper also finds information gaps (e.g. low disclosure) and notes that non-members sometimes show higher technical efficiency. The study provides insights for designing effective smallholder carbon projects.
