Abstract: The United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD, 2005?2014) encouraged governments worldwide to develop strategies and frameworks to reorient education and learning towards sustainable development. In Kenya, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and various civil society organizations have played crucial roles in leading and supporting learning opportunities aimed at promoting sustainable development across various sectors. The adoption of a national ESD Implementation Strategy in April 2008 laid the foundation for the coordination, implementation, monitoring, and resource mobilization of ESD activities in Kenya.
