Abstract: The solid waste sector is a major source of pollutants that contribute to climate change, including methane and black carbon. At the same time, solid waste collection, transportation, recycling, treatment, and disposal services and infrastructure are highly vulnerable to climate stressors, such as extreme weather events. As such, improving how cities manage solid waste can simultaneously mitigate climate change and enhance local resilience to climate change impacts.
