Abstract: Scaling locally-led adaptation can unintentionally deepen the inequitable division of burdens and benefts if the process does not address the gendered impacts of new practices. “Scaling with households” integrates gender-responsive planning with household members to increase women’s capacities for learning and leading socially inclusive locally-led adaptation. Strengthening women’s partnerships with extension staff and farmer networks increases their agency in shaping adaptation scaling.
