Abstract: The Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA) 1999 provides for the preparation of District Environment Action Plans every five years. This is the first District Environment Action Plan (DEAP) for Vihiga district. Preparation of this DEAP was done through a participatory process involving the civil society, private and public sectors. The document has incorporated salient issues from the divisions and it highlights priority themes and activities for the district towards attaining sustainable development. It is divided into eight chapters.
