Description: This updated Nationally Determined Contribution moves from the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events and successive impacts of climate change on Kenyan economy resulting to great socio-economic losses. Therefore, considered Kenya’s dependence on climate sensitive natural resources, the Country has set out this Contribution to pursue its low carbon climate resilient development pathway. After a background and an overview of previous policies, actions and measures undertaken, national circumstances and figures, policy, legal and institutional framework, the Document focuses on the revision process, both considering climate change reporting and the alignment of previous NDC with Sustainable Development Goals. This updated Nationally Determined Contribution is elaborated in accordance with paragraphs 22-35 of decisions 1/CP.21 and 4/CMA.1 and its annex and has been informed by a more detailed and robust assessment of mitigation and adaptation measures, in depth analysis, improved information and data, and an extensive stakeholder consultation process.
