Abstract: This study gives an overview about Kenya’s efforts to address the challenges of adaptation to climate change so far. It provides information on existing policies and maps institutions and main actors in a rapidly emerging policy area influenced by a wide array of actors and interests. The study constitutes a snapshot into the state of adaptation preparedness in East Africa, as at mid-2010. It shows what Kenya has already achieved in this regard. But it also identifies “loose ends” and problems, many of which are similar and related to issues encountered in governance and development policy debates more generally.
